Vision of a children’s Healing Ranch

Sunrise Ranch Sarasota

At Sunrise Ranch, our mission is to assure the safety and healing of children who have been victims of sex trafficking, abuse, or parental neglect. Our vision is to provide a comprehensive care program in a welcoming environment for traumatized children; a home and a community where each child knows they are loved, respected, and safe.

We are planning a self-reliant community starting with 14 Deltec manufactured round homes, utilizing and enhancing a 300+ acre working horse ranch currently for sale in Sarasota county. Each home is designed for 8 to 10 children. A secluded home is provided for new arrivals, as well as a separate home for new mothers, pregnant teens, and babies.

In the center of the ranch will be a two story 12,500 ft.² main campus building comprised of a three co-joining building complex. One building will include a large cafeteria/gymnasium. Another will house an inviting library and computer center, and in the third will be an innovative education center connected by quiet study areas and indoor garden spaces. Administrative offices and therapy rooms will be located upstairs. surrounding this main campus will be six smaller buildings situated for apprenticeships, educational programs, arts, music and dance.

The Sunrise Ranch project is receiving input and developing working relationships with local farmers, artisans, and proprietors. Our crops will be selected for healing benefits to the children, animals, and the environment. They will provide soil regeneration, food and medicinal benefit for the community and animals, and additionally be profitable to enhance the Sunrise Ranch mission.

Hemp, aloe Vera, and organic green crops help meet these criteria. Significant aspects of the children’s’ therapeutic programs will include caring of crops, flowers, herbs and vegetables. The grazing fields for horses, goats, and sheep, the stables, pens and chicken hatchery will all function as healing spaces for the children. The ranch’s crops, animals, milk and egg products, will provide endless opportunities for them to grow and thrive.

Our education team will use innovative Socratic methods which increase critical thinking and discernment. Our proven program avails the children to heal themselves, while learning to find harmony with others and their environment at their own pace.

Our healing modalities are comprised of the proven healing practices and deprogramming techniques from world-renowned, mind science expert Mark Phillips and taught by CIA/Pentagon/White House level MK Ultra survivor and teacher of trauma recovery, Cathy O’Brien. All ranch employees will be trained and certified by the Association for the Recovery of Children organization, “ARC”, Recoveryofchildren.org.

Intake and triage will be at a far corner of the property to assure safety and security in our community. We will always be on the ready to give any child a 24 hour direct one on one care when needed. Upon intake, a child may need extended, individual care and supervision before entering the community.

Individual counseling with urgent care, psychiatric care, and advanced healing therapies will be on site and readily available within our therapeutic living environment. Our top priority is the safety of our children. Our security team will be of the highest caliber, receiving extensive training, preparation, and resources to assure safety.

Proper nutrition is an essential part of our education. In addition to growing our own organic food, learning food preparation and the celebrating of good food are an important part of life on the Ranch. In addition to our central cafeteria, we will have community cooking areas, apothecary, as well as canning and harvesting areas.

Our core animal therapy will be our Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy or EFP. This approach pairs a child with a horse they will remain with and develop a relationship with. Horses are particularly suited for addressing traumatic stress in humans because of their predictable and responsive nature.

Daily life for children on the ranch will include time to heal through silent spiritual reflection and prayer, powerful healing therapies, engaging open classroom sessions, quiet time for healing, rest periods,

individual counseling, and life coaching.

As a self-reliant ranch community, family life, work and play, are all intertwined. To prepare young adults for successful careers we will provide opportunities and access to a variety of apprenticeships throughout southwest Florida, partnering with well-vetted businesses and mentors willing to share their talent, knowledge, and love. Daily commuting will be provided for those young adults integrating into the Sarasota community.
